Artemisa Rivas

Jewelry, art and creativity have been part of my life since before I was born! My mom was a hippie chick and would bead everything or at least buy things that were beaded and artistic. She worked as an administrator for the San Diego County Office of Education with At-Risk-Youth children and has her own program to help juvenile young girls succeed in their lives. My dad is a welder on ocean dredges and could fix anything that is metal...he even does sculptures and decorative bike parts for his Harley Davidson (this is where my love for metal comes in!). Years later at the age of 23, I became pregnant with my daughter. During my maternity leave from work, I had a lot of time on my hands. One day I came across a bead shop by the beach. It instantly brought on memories of my mom and sister when we were little, and I boy did I want to make something! The creative wheels started to turn! I started making many necklaces for my friends, mom and sister. They all said I should sell it and that I was pretty good at it. So here I am! I now work in my custom built shop by my husband Knute. He\'s so proud of his work but even more proud of me! And that I\'m out of his garage.:) We live here in San Diego with our daughter Sophia and nephew Joe, Spike our black lab, Angel our rat terrier, Odie our chihuahua and two turtles who don\'t have names:) I love to goof around and to be always happy. I find many things enjoyable and have to connect to nature always whether it\'s a walk outside to surfing the waves in the ocean! These are my ultimate motivators for my work. Always reach for the stars my friends!
