Visual Art – San Francisco

carimonster is an interdisciplinary painter and sculptor, living in San Francisco. Her work ranges in emphasis from textural exploration in sculpture, painting and drawing, to full scale installations which question the roles of said mediums. Her work aims at juxtaposing the complexity of form (viewed at a distance) with the simplicity of cellular structure on a microscopic level, and furthermore how our perceptions of such notions can be reversed. In her drawings, carimonster most recently explores the proliferation of imaginary species, many of which are available here. carimonster holds a BA from Mills College in Oakland, California, where she studied Sculpture and Painting in tandem. All drawings are made with paper, ink, and marker. Some drawings incorporate colored pencil. All paintings are oil on canvas, wood or nylon thread.
