CAROLYN FAUTEUX

Visual Art – Nashville

Through the gesture and distortion of the human figure, my work emphasizes the struggle to cope with internal disruption. I allow my subjects to be vulnerable and jaded by personal experience in order to portray isolation, depression, anxiety and weakness. The distortion of these figures reiterates our inability to cope with pain, frustration, and paranoia as we move through stages of self-recognition, mental development, physical growth, and self-acceptance. They convey a psychological interaction with the viewer as they demonstrate both confidence and shame as they deteriorate from the inside out.
