Visual Art – Nashville

My fiber art and jewelry design business grew out of a longtime love of creating wearable art and my desire to work with materials in my community. I am currently focusing my research and art practice around human and environmental connections, past and present textile design, wearable art, and public installations. I create unique art and jewelry using locally sourced materials, repurposed metals, a mixture of textile techniques including felting, tapestry weaving, and spinning.

I source my materials from local farmers raising fiber producing animals like alpaca, pygora goat, and sheep to support the historical connection between the small farmer and the textile industry which has a rich tradition in the Tennessee Valley.

I bring color into my work using natural "eco" dyes produced from local and recycled vegetables, leaves, and plants. Over the last two years, I have created nature inspired patterns that became part of a unique wearable art style.

I enjoy creating nature inspired and naturally dyed cotton women's and men's clothing, beautiful scarves, and one-of-a-kind yarn. I create small batch or one of a kind pieces that are hand dyed in a monoprint style with my natural plant and vegetable dyes - so no two are exactly alike. The nature of using natural dyes and weaving is process oriented and it creates a space for all kinds of creativity, patience, and admiration for life. This hand made process keeps me conscious of the ecological, human, and animal connections we share with our things, and each other.
