Visual Art – Denver

Drawing from a multitude of cultural, institutional, and fantastical influences I strive to create a body of work that is as diverse as it is unique. My artistic style is heavily influenced by classical figure painting as well as contemporary illustration. Growing up on a healthy diet of comic books and cartoons I knew almost immediately upon entering this world that I wanted to create visual imagery. Once out of high school I began a serious pursuit in the study of anatomy, to better understand the dynamic work I was so intent on creating. Eventually I would go back to my childhood obsession of the super heroic. I would begin to break apart and recombine these classic tales with his own heritage in order to show that these stories and characters were universal, timeless even. Why couldn\'t there be a spider-esque avenger swinging through the jungles and pyraminds of the pre-columbian world? How much would the civil rights movement have changed if Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. could read minds or if Malcolm X could manipulate metal? These are worlds I dreamt of living in and ones I am determined to bring into reality albeit on a visual scale.
