Fariba is an award winning Vancouver based fashion designer and textile artist. She operated her own design studio for 8 years in Iran before moved to Vancouver in 1996. Graduating from the textile art and design at Capilano University in 1999 and advanced Surface design, at Capilano university in 2001. Fariba opened her own business in North Vancouver in spring of 2000 and later on, she opened Gabbeh Textile Art Gallery in Downtown Vancouver. She produces her pieces from scratch – a process, which includes designing the fabric, patterns and styles to create unique items of wearable art. By incorporating this craftsmanship into her process, Fariba is able to create one-of-a-kind designs meant for a distinctive niche. Awards: * The runner up prize in the Open Category at the 2013 Saskatchewan wearable art competition * Winner of three WAA Awards: 2012 Award, Best in Show Award 2013 (Sponsored by the Emily Carr University of Art and Design) and the People’s Choice Award at the Wearable Art Competition port moody art centre.
