She speaks with authority from a vision rooted in her mind that sprouts from her heart. She is a poet who emits her thoughts on social injustice, nature, love, family values through spoken words. With a keen perspective on societal issues and family structure, Damali studied Social Work and Psychology & Child Development. Damali is increasing her understanding in social justice and participating in events that promote strength and the upliftment of individuals and communities. Damali has hosted several events such as Lignum Vitae Entertainment’s “Poetic Energy” in South Florida, “Dub Vibe” in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, with photographer Davidi Muir for his “Pieces of Jamaica” fine art showcase and was also part of organizing the first year of events for “100 Thousand Poets for Change - Jamaica Chapter” in September 2011 in Ocho Rios and Kingston, Jamaica. With a presence all her own, Damali still recognizes writers such as Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, Kimberg a.k.a Sistah Souljah, Rebecca “Butterfly” Vaughn, Yamiche Alcindor, Malachi Smith, Angela Davis, Linton Kwesi Johnson as being among her influences. She has graced the stages such as Griot Music’s Eclectic, The Poetry Society of Jamaica’s Monthly Fellowship, RJR 94 Fm’s Wednesday Night Live, Nationwide 90Fm’s Poetry Corner, Seh Sup’m Poetry & Live music in Jamaica and in the United States “Poetic Energy”, Stop The Violence Community Event 200, Voices and Vibez, Write Side Poets, Wateva Works 1st & 3rd Fridays, Mellow Mondays Open Mic, Literary Café’ Open Mic, Soul Sessions with Kristine
