Jazzamboka is composed of five montrealers, two of congolese origin.The band started to compose in 2013 and started performing live shows in 2014. In 2 years of live performing, Jazzamboka has been packing 300 people venues, which is very rare for a local jazz band in Montreal, like the PHI center (2014 and 2015), the Théâtre Fairmount (2016), several Maison de la Culture (7 in total) , la place des arts, and others... The band also went to play in Toronto couple of times and in New York. In September 2016 their first album came out and got really great critiques from different news papers (VOIR, DEVOIR, DownBeat (US) ) and also from Radio Canada (CBC) which had them in their top 50 albums of the year and acclaimed that this was one of the most important musical project to take life in Canada for a long time. Their slogan is "This is not jazz, this is jazzamboka"
