Visual Art – Winnipeg
Jes Coverini is a Montreal-born, Winnipeg-based multimedia artist, graphic designer and community educator.
Previously dedicated to creating complex photo-realistic artworks, her latest works look to rewrite colonial narratives about what art is and who is permitted to express themselves. Instead her work lets go of perfectionism, allowing “mistakes” to live on the canvas, and connects with her inner child to create works that spark joy and capture moments through the simplicity of shape and colour.
She hopes her work is a reminder that self-expression is about joy, not profit, and that art does not have to look a certain way or come from a certain person to be valid or meaningful.
