Julia Taylor

My practice involves figure painting using oil and focuses on my personal responses to the basic human experience of desire. One of my main concerns is to highlight the sensuality, openness and instinct of sex as a human experience as well as confront the taboos surrounding sexuality within our society. I use thick and gestural application of the paint with movement and texture, using both organic and thoughtful mark making with a palette knife. I hope to convey the physicality of intimacy and sexuality through the physicality of the paint.
