Visual Art – Seattle

Hi, I'm Kimi. I was born and raised in western Washington and currently reside in Tacoma with my partner Shane and two cats Mittens and Pear. I am proud to live in the Pacific Northwest and constantly draw inspiration, and sometimes materials, from the wild world around me. When I create, I often have a story behind each piece, but I like the piece to speak for itself in the end; I prefer that everyone make their own connection and interpretation. My larger pieces can take anywhere between 4 weeks to a year because I commit myself to working on a piece only when passion strikes me. While creating, it is my goal to meet the challenge of new materials boldly and to never create the the same thing twice. Some artist who have inspired me are Rea Missigman for fearless embrace of mixed media, and James Brunt for the creation breathtaking eco and land art creations. In high school, an art piece of mine titled Hometown View won the Korum Family Arts Scholarship at the Washington State Fair. The acrylic painting depicts a giant eye with a windmill, daffodil, winding road, and Mt. Rainer inside the reflection. The RAW Artist's show is my first show since winning the scholarship and I am very excited and meet other artists and art-lovers living in the greater Seattle area.
