Lauren Banks is a dancer, instructor, and choreographer passionate about sharing dance. She believes movement is the purest form of expression and is interested in using movement as a means to express her own personal thoughts and feelings. Through this movement choreographed from personal experiences, she asks her dancers to find their own voice through the movement, based on their experiences. Her process is not about regurgitation but rather exploration. Through this exploration, it is her hope to create work that is tangible, visceral, and accessible for diverse audiences. She is interested in simple, pedestrian movement with a real human quality as well as big, sweeping movement with an ethereal quality. Using the contrast between human and ethereal movement, she desires to create a harmonious atmosphere that is both calm and serene as well as emotional and stirring.
