As an artist, it is important for Lindsay to make work that addresses relevant issues by engaging with the past, present and future. Lindsay’s passion for creating art has transcended into creating art with a purpose. Lindsay is a multimedia maker who has worked in abstract painting, photography, scratch-board art, web design and video installation. She focuses on the portrayals of African American identities in mainstream media in hopes of expanding on the ideas of black identity. As an African American woman creating art and unpacking complicated themes, it is important for her work to situate itself in a historical context. In order for Lindsay’s work to shape the future, she must reconstruct the present by referencing the past.
