Megan Lorusso

My name is Megan Lorusso and I am the artist and owner of Lorusso Art [on demand] out of Charlotte, NC. My journey as an artist began when my mother would suggest I "draw my feelings," which have always felt too big to fit inside of me. For as long as I can remember, I have been overwhelmed by emotion. Happiness, sadness, joy, fear, excitement - they all have the capacity to paralyze me. Art hasn't prevented me from battling a laundry list of mental illnesses, but it has given me an outlet and a very unique purpose. In the world, I can be anxious and timid. But as an artist, I am courageous. There is nothing I won't try. Because of this, my portfolio of work is quite diverse. Although I know that a cohesive body of work is ideal, my work is an extension of me - and I am anything but cohesive! What you will find behind EVERY original piece, though, is meaning, purpose and passion. Whether abstract or realism, paint or crayon, each piece of work is meant to provoke thought, empathy, compassion and conversation that can illicit change in the issues that are most important to me (namely, mental illness and social injustice).
