Lyrical the Lyricist was born and raised in Queens, New York, and moved to Baltimore, Maryland when he was eighteen to study English at Morgan State University. While in college, he was able to hone in on his passion, poetry, while learning the techniques of novels, script and screenwriting. He went on to receive Undergraduate Writer of the Year honors from the university in 2007, his last year before pursuing a full-time writing career. Lyrical the Lyricist has been performing spoken word poetry for twelve years, and in such time has won countless poetry slams gaining the kinship and respect of some of the greatest poets to-date. With writing partner Archie the Messenger, Lyrical has written five poetry shows including a theater poetry play they put on in six major cities. The two also established Writing4mylife, an independent entity created in efforts to bring art and writing back to the forefront of today’s youth. In addition to his own plays, Lyrical has performed across the country in historical venues from The Nuyorican in New York to The Savoy in Los Angeles as well as over 50 colleges and universities. In 2012 he published his first book of poetry, \"The Deferred Dream\" and is working on publishing his first novel, The Chronicles of Hope: A Dream Deferred.
