Performing Art – New Orleans
Kristal "M2daE" Jones is a choreographer, performer, instructor, & artist. Native to New Orleans, Kristal's feels the culture has taught her dance is natural act of expression and what some call "Groove" and "Bounce" cannot be taught unless felt by the soul. Her unique brand of choreography blends Hip Hop, Bounce, Caribbean, Street Jazz, and Contemporary styles for she appreciates the conventions of various dance Genres as different type of art forms.
Discovering her love for dance at the age of 12, she began to choreograph in secret until dancing with "Attitude," a local Hip Hop dance crew. She went on to receive her B.A. in Architecture from Southern University A & M College in Baton Rouge. After working as a Architectural designer for 5 years, Kristal chose to return to her 1st love, dance, full time in 2015. She currently teaches a weekly Hip Hop Choreography class at Dancing Grounds and offers private movement lessons and a host of workshops. In 2016 she began training with KM Dance Project and has recently began performing with Artivism Dance Theater. Kristal is the founder and Director of B.U.K.U. Dance Krewe. She hopes to encourage others to be themselves and do what they love as she continues to find ways to hone her skills as a dancer, choreographer, artist, & curator.
