Mary Schatschneider

Performing Art – Vancouver

Mary Schatschneider started her comedic journey with the support of her parents and their credit card in 2009 at a comedy workshop in San Francisco. Upon her return to her hometown of Cranbrook, BC, she started performing regularly as the unofficial opening act/emcee of The Laugh Shop at The Heritage Inn. Hoping to buy her parents a beach house, she took another workshop in Los Angeles with Louie Anderson and Kyle Cease; she then held a fundraiser for her bank account and raised an astonishing $86 to fund her comedic talents. Mary then decided to branch out and spent three weeks training at The Second City in Chicago studying improv, sketch comedy, and solo performance techniques. Again, Mary found the lack of hilarity in her home town just wouldn\'t do, so she packed up and moved to Calgary, AB. With enough money to keep her off the streets, Mary performed at any and all comedy venues, reaching the quarter finals of Sirius XM\'s “Canada\'s Next Top Comic” and the Semi Finals of Yuk Yuk\'s “Chase Your Butterfly” competition. Now residing in Vancouver, where she has trained with the Vancouver Film School, Granville Island Theatresports, and Instant Theatre Improv, Mary\'s dreams of becoming a sub-par middle act are coming true. With the title of BC\'s Third Funniest Female under her belt, Mary feels only some things can stop her.
