Photography – Nashville

Let me tell you a little about myself. I am an artist. I am many other things of course, but at my center, this is what I feel the most. When I snap an amazing photograph and I experience an emotional response to what I see, this is how I know that what I’m doing is “right”. This is passion, and it is what being an artist is all about. "The purpose of art is to make visible the invisible", Franco Fontana. I’ve come to realize that I have a unique way of seeing the world. It’s a view that I continue to cultivate and expand by pushing myself creatively and emotionally. Looking at the world through my view is what I want to share. My photographs show how I see and what I feel. Design and composition play a large role in my work. I am influenced by a range of different artist including photographers Minor White, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Lee Friedlander, and Franco Fontana, painter Jackson Pollock and other artists from the era of Dada and Surrealism. Capturing an image with a strong composition is what I look for, regardless of the subject matter. My strength and vision come from being true to myself. I have fortitude and compassion, and I find joy in experiencing the world around me. Appreciating the textures, colors, streets and people of the places that I visit is what gives my work its voice.
