Visual Art – Nashville

I was introduced to art at Montgomery Bell Academy. After studying Mathematics and other general curricula I received a B.S. in Graphic Design from Tennessee State University. My influences are Vincent Van Gogh and Salvador Dali as well as, modern artists like Charles White and Jacob Lawrence. A consistent affinity for realism is apparent in my work, while abstractions can also be found. Oil paintings are my predominant medium, but charcoal, chalk pastels, and acrylic paintings are essential building blocks and are often finished. My approach is process-oriented, embracing the therapeutic value which is the driving force behind my work. The passion freedom and independence has led me into the arena of community outreach. The power of art is used to teach self esteem and open the minds of youth to opportunity that may not be apparent. Art is my personal therapy and the philosophy of FREEDOM THROUGH ART is intended to communicate everyones unique and intrinsic ability to be free.
