Orson Frontier

Music – Columbus

Orson Frontier started in the summer of 2013 as a three piece line-up, featuring Jacob Jordan, Aaron McGiffin, and Matthew Hill. The band quickly made a name for themselves playing locally in the Columbus music scene, later spreading out into the Athens local scene. With a warm, well received welcoming and reception by both cities, the band has since drawn comparisons to like-minded artists such as, Neutral Milk Hotel and The Avett Brothers. Regarding the inspirations behind the very personal, real-life experience lyrics, McGiffin’s lips are sealed. “I really try to stay away from giving too many details on what the songs and material are about because I feel it takes away what the listener could get from it,” said McGiffin. “I want people to feel however they want after hearing one our songs, and I want it to mean what they want it to mean to them,” said McGiffin in an ACRN interview with Megan Fair. According to Backdrop Magazine, the band draws inspiration from country and folk music, and the band composes songs with an atmosphere that reflects those styles. One aspect of the band that really sets it apart is the use of the accordion by band member Isaac Jordan, according to Backdrop Magazine. Orson Frontier may draw inspiration from these musical styles, but their live performance energy states otherwise. The band has one of the highest energy live-shows around, with it\'s vocalist \"thrashing around to the most sonic pieces of each song\" according to Megan Fair from ACRN. Native to both music scenes in Athens and Columbus, Orson Frontier harks from Lancaster, Ohio. At the beginning of 2014, the band has since expanded their line-up, bringing in Isaac Jordan to the rotation. Now, the Lancaster quartet, is in the full-fledged production phase of their debut album. Their latest single, \"Trails,\" off of their forthcoming album, was released in early April of 2014, accompanied by an official music video release for the single. Look for more releases from Orson Frontier, as stated by the band, they are only just beginning.
