Visual Art – Nashville

I am an inspired beauty and fashion illustrator. I express myself through my brand Posh Chic Illustrations. I started off my interest in illustration by illustrating fairy tale characters. The characters that I came up with lead to my interest in the clothing and how that formed the character’s personalities. In fashion you want to design the clothing based on the person you are marketing for sense clothing does define you and who you are as a person. I design towards my liking and not to any particular era of fashion. I am very open to different styles and would love to show that in the future pieces. With the fashion and beauty market I hope to use my pieces as well as my graphic designs skills to do work for magazines and page layouts. I love expressing myself through the means of art, and seeing my finished pieces completed. I normally go through the same material and space set up as well as steps of illustrating when I am creating my pieces. The traditional main mediums I use are watercolor, acrylic, pastel, markers, and ink. I tend to make very bold marks and outline my work in black India ink when I am done laying color down. The black outlining is something I am known for in my style of art. I love watercolor and how unpredictable the marks could be, so I use this medium in numerous illustrations that I do. I like using watercolor for skin tones as well as for fabric designs. I use acrylic paints to create texture in my garments or backgrounds. With my “Posh Chic” girls the illustrations begins with some sketches to establish an idea. I then lay my first layer of watercolor down. As that dries I go back and lay my second layer down. After the watercolor process, I start putting in my details with acrylic paint in area such as garment detailing. I finish my pieces by going through and outlining everything in India ink, this for me pulls the whole piece together and I end up with my finished product. I just started working with digital pieces from my iPad. I love how I can Portray my tradition skills to my digital skills. I love what I do and will continue to expand in areas that needs strengthening. My art is growing and so am I and I can’t wait to see all the possibilities that I will accomplish!
