Sarah Duncan Terrell

Visual Art – Dallas - Fort Worth

Sarah, a Texas native with Dutch roots, lives in Dallas with her husband Chuck and Cairn Terrier, Pearl “Squirrel”. She studied art and graphic design at TCU and was awarded the Nordan – the top art scholarship – for drawing and painting. After college she went to work in advertising at Banowetz + Company where she served as Creative Director to clients such as a NorthPark Center, the Nasher Sculpture Center and the Joule Hotel. Professionally, her work has won awards, been featured in numerous regional shows and published in Print and How magazines and several LogoLounge books. After more than a decade in graphic design, she now works full-time as an artist and has been involved in several combined artist shows throughout Dallas. She works with individuals and interior designers to create custom artwork for homes, and her work has been featured at blue print in Dallas. Her paintings portray a fascination with patterns and texture found in nature, architecture, textiles, fashion, as well as light and contrast in portraiture. They range from realistic to abstract, paying special attention to color and texture. Her fascination with Europe shows through as she explores the juxtaposition of ancient and modern; nature and architecture; history and illusion. She's energized by painting a variety of subject matter and finds great beauty in the eclectic. Sarah experiments with a variety of materials within her paintings including gold leaf, crushed granite, marble dust, sand, sea glass and raw aluminum.
