Visual Art – Houston
Hi! My name is Shay Ballew and I am the owner of GreenAnchor Studios. I have a lifelong love of art, design, decorating, fashion, antiques, and all things vintage. I am a pretty eclectic artist in that I do a little bit of everything - it is really hard for me to focus on just one medium or style of art. My degree is in fashion design, so I use my sewing skills to make all manner of items such as baby and children's accessories, and home decor. I also make jewelry and have done a bit of weaving, pottery, collage, art journaling, faux painting, and murals. I have also been blessed to be able to teach art for kids from preschool to high school age, which I love. For this art show, I am focusing on my abstract expressionistic paintings which I began painting in college. It was the first time I had really done canvas paintings and I fell in love with painting! For the past 20+ years I have painted numerous commissions and sold several paintings online. I have also been able to paint large paintings for stage backdrops at my church. My paintings are acrylic and collage on canvas finished with a clear varnish medium.
