Visual Art – Chicago

Shannon Hochman is an illustrator with a BFA in traditional animation from Manhattan's School of Visual Arts. He is currently working to earn his MFA in illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design. His thesis project for that degree is centered on book illustration for more mature readers and the bridge between sequential art and illustration. He is exploring this topic through illustration and visual development to be paired with his own writing - a novel he has written and is currently packaging for publication. Much of this artwork can be found here. His work generally focuses on LGBT individuals, with a heavy emphasis on costume and character design. His favored techniques are with watercolor, ink and pencil. He has an eye for detail, especially when it comes to drawing upon history and research to give his work that little extra flavor.
