Shoko Ryu

Visual Art – San Jose

Shoko grew up in rural Japan, where from a young age she began to venture out and absorb the peace and natural beauty of her surroundings, into the mountains to appreciate the sounds, sights, and smells of the outdoors. Even at a young age she thrived when expressing herself and her imagination through many channels, like drawing, painting, and making music. She cut her teeth on a new culture at 14 when she studied in Australia, and began to travel the world after high school. She went to India, learned yoga, and found herself inspired by the third eye, sacred geometry, and the color, patterns, and life of the Indian culture. She taught herself graphic design, and continued to draw and paint personal pieces for her own joy. Shoko’s personal work began to be noticed, and she is now working on a T-shirt line and other textile goods bearing her artwork, and her goal is to continue drawing and painting images of peace and happiness to share with people.
