Stephen Smith

Brisbane-based singer/songwriter Stephen Smith has always strived for honesty within his work. Exploring areas that he, like most other 20-year olds have experienced first-hand, Stephen writes of love, hate, life, death and the interesting spaces between. His blend of alternative-folk and indie-rock has led Stephen to support and share the bill with some of Australia’s freshest talent, such as Matt Corby, Stu Larsen and The Paper Kites. After independently recording his EP last year, Stephen’s music and life undertook a critical and necessary change in early 2013. The solo artist recruited 4 more talented musicians, quit his job, and poured his little savings into a new EP. This new band transformed Stephen’s recordings and live set into something dynamically and emotionally greater. The ‘Take Your Time’ EP, produced and engineered by Yanto Browning (Kate Miller-Heidke, Last Dinosaurs, Jungle Giants), is the latest stage of Stephen Smith’s development as an artist, but only a taste of what is to come from a young devoted musician.
