Tara Alesia (born Tara Alesia Walker) is an American soul and R&B singer-songwriter. Born and raised in the California Bay Area, Walker was introduced to music at a very early age through her grandfather’s old jazz records and attending her fathers’ funk band rehearsals. At the age of 9, she began studying vocal harmonies on “…Boyz II Men and Brandy cassette tapes.”, Walker recalls.
In the early 2000’s, Walker featured on recordings with various local artists, and in 2007, she gained national exposure after performing on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Tara Alesia\'s sound is described as cool, sultry and soulful, with a twist of hip-hop and jazz. “I’m R&B to my core…I’m addicted to thick, lush harmonies, progression changes and big chords.” She says. “I fell in love with hip-hop later but it became, and remains, a huge part of my life and who I am as an artist.”Tara cites Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Sade, Tamia, Aaliyah, Amel Larrieux, Dwele, Alicia Keys and Common as favorite artists.
Tara teamed up with Specialist Music Group and was featured on the first single from The Lion’s Den Six Pack II mixtape released January 28, 2013, entitled \"For Your Soul\".
The latest project is a mixtape titled VirgoEarthChild, released June 2014.
