Visual Art – Sacramento

I have had a passion for the arts since high school but my chosen medium at the time was optical illusions. Art has always been an outlet for me to release stress and see what I can come up with because it truly has no boundaries. As I got older, I wanted to find an art medium that wasn't stressful. If my optical illusions were uneven or I made a mistake, I would get frustrated and start over. It slowly started to take the passion out of it for me. At the end of 2018, a lot of changes started happening in my life, and I was seeking an outlet to help redirect my emotions to something more healthy and practice more self-care. I remember being at a store and seeing a piece of art, thinking to myself, "I can make that." I purchased a bunch of paints, canvases, and paintbrushes and went home and started throwing some paint on the canvas. Now I work with resin, acrylic, and whatever else materials that inspire me. I have become more involved in my community, supporting local small businesses, participating in V-Day Sacramento, which is an anti-violence movement expressed through the power of art and activism, and being an advocate among my peers. Art has become such a thriving passion for me because it's challenged me in more ways than one and has helped me to expand my perspectives each day. The support I have received greatly encourages me to continue creating and I am beyond excited and grateful to see where this journey takes me. Thank you for being here!
