Visual Art – San Diego

Gregg Visintainer is a self-taught artist and is the youngest of three boys. He was born on February 29, 1984 in San Jose, CA. His unique style of drawing began when he was 16 years old, in high school. During class instead of listening and taking notes he was doodling. Drawing was his way to pass time in school and express how he felt. After high school Gregg stopped drawing for six years. At the age of 21, Gregg moved to San Diego because he needed to have a second back surgery. He was planning to move back to the Bay Area after he recovered but never left. While living in San Diego and going through some difficult times he reconnected with his true love for art. At age 24, Gregg created a piece of artwork titled, “Lonely World” that took three months and over 250 hours to complete. He realized drawing could be his outlet and art became his therapy and meditation. From that day on Gregg continued to draw and let his mind and hands express his feelings. Viz Art Ink was born and became his own signature style. Viz Art Ink is hand drawn, using pen and ink. From afar, there is a main image but up-close you will find hidden pictures, words, messages and a lot of meaning that relates to each theme. It takes Gregg on average about 60-80 hours to complete an art piece. His style has gained recognition throughout Southern California and in the action sports industry. In the last two years he has drawn freelance artwork for Element Skateboards, Dregs Skateboards, Volcom, DC Shoes, Skinit, and others. His goal is to share his art and story with as many people as possible. He speaks at different events and schools throughout San Diego to motivate and inspire the youth. Gregg hopes to travel the world and leave his mark everywhere he goes. www.VizArtInk.com PLEASE EXPAND VIDEO TO SEE THE DETAIL!
