Wildling Art & Creations

Visual Art – Sydney

Wildman's works are immersive and captivating in unusual ways; whereby a tension is created between the object and its environment. One that she desires to be broken by the audiences participation and engagement. "I am captivated by the tension that arises between an object and its environment. I believe the strength of each piece depends on this tension. The physical engagement with a piece intercepts this tension and creates a new symbiotic relationship. I believe the true value of this type of art lies in the fact that it is autotelic - it exists for its own purpose only - and each piece should create its own reality in our chaotic world." Alexis Wildman is an emerging Fine Arts student at UNSW Art and Design, majoring in Sculpture and Ceramics. She takes inspiration from a few avant-garde and minimalist artists for their attitude, audience engagement and simplistic aesthetic. Wildman has recently been selected in the Eden Unearthed Exhibition 2017, where her work "On the Other Side" was displayed from August '17 - February '18. She was also featured on the Sydney Weekender for the exhibition. The same work was previously shown in the July 2017 UNSW AD Space exhibition, What We Can Get.
