Jazzy Cherrie is a talented artist whose creative journey began in 2018. However, it was during a transformative 3-year hiatus from full-time employment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she delved deep into her artistic practice. Since 2019, Jazzy has also been actively involved as an art educator, sharing her passion for creativity in schools and community programs.
As an abstract painter, Jazzy Cherrie's work explores the depths of human emotions, particularly the themes of overcoming obstacles and healing. She has a unique approach of highlighting full-figured female silhouettes, using her art to challenge societal norms and redefine the perspective of beauty. Through her paintings, Jazzy Cherrie aims to promote self-love and inspire viewers to embrace their own unique beauty. She primarily works with spray paint, acrylic paint, paint markers, and acrylic ink, creating vibrant and expressive pieces that captivate the imagination.
In addition to painting, Jazzy Cherrie is also a jewelry designer and bag upcycler. Her accessories are an extension of her vibrant personality and a reflection of her ethnic roots. By incorporating beads, wire, clay, and fabric, she infuses her designs with a sense of fun, uniqueness, and cultural significance.
Jazzy Cherrie's goal as an artist is to encourage individuals to dig deeper into their emotions and focus on healing. Her own artistic journey was triggered by a self-love journey, which inspired her to publish a self-love activity journal titled "Queen Mee Self Love Activity Journal" and a coloring book titled "Melanin Magic for Black Women." These publications, available on Amazon, are packed with motivational quotes and serve as empowering tools for personal growth and self-expression.
Through her art, teaching, and creative publications, Jazzy Cherrie strives to make a positive impact, empowering others to embrace their true selves, overcome challenges, and cultivate a deeper sense of self-love and healing.
