“I paint the world I feel with the unseen colors of my emotions onto the canvas of reality, creating a vivid tapestry that speaks my inner truth.” - .J.S
Johanna is a visionary contemporary artist whose work transcends the boundaries of traditional painting to weave intricate narratives within each canvas. Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario Canada, Johanna discovered a passion for art at a young age. This early fascination with colors and forms evolved into a lifelong quest to use painting as a medium for storytelling.
Johanna is a versatile and experienced artist whose journey spans multiple continents and cultural experiences. She earned her BFA with honors at SUNY Plattsburgh in New York, with a major in painting and drawing. she conscientiously and seriously explores her own mode of expression, her attitude to the phenomenon of contemporary art.
Her settings in the their natural and psychological dimension bear simultaneously addition and abstraction, with the natural engagement of devotee of modern painting. In all of her works there is an abstract process-even to the point of exaggeration-but she does not change completely the whole figure. Simply, through this process her artistic gesture lays emphasis only on, the substantial elements. She recognizes the necessity of limits yet often dares to proceed beyond them. Through this singularity. she establishes her style a compact, laconic and dramatic. Her compositions possess of both solidity of form and content as well as of emotional charge.
she draws with brush strokes conveying those details that only the artist considers crucial, until form is able to reach enough chromatic density and capture the soul of the artwork. she investigates questions posed by line, volume and tone.
Johanna uses color with daring freedom reaching a well-balanced outcome; through courage she explores the relationship of lights and darks, of reality and dream, applying a personal solution to the artistic problems.
