Shawn Alleyne is a Creator. An Artist who expresses himself in multiple forms as a freelance Visual Artist, Writer, Inker, Teacher and Spoken Word artist. Born and raised on the island of Barbados, he now resides in Philadelphia where he uses his gritty self-taught techniques to produce literary and visual work that fuse the elements of sci-fi, mythology, hip-hop and Afrofiction with his Caribbean roots.
His visual art has been a part of numerous art exhibits including ones at The Schomburg Institute, the Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, and multiple solo art exhibits under Afroglyphics.
Alleyne's literary work has been published and showcased through numerous creative mediums in everything from comics, to novels, to video game design, to music videos, and more.
Parallel to his artistic achievements he also seeks to build the bonds of the artistic community. His two self-published novel anthologies- The Scribes of Nyota and The Scribes of Nyota: Mystics, have provided publishing opportunities for many other writers and artists.
In addition, he founded the art group Artmada, an artist collective with the agenda to showcase diverse indy art; co-founded Street Team Studios, an entertainment company with a comic book, video game and movie franchise in the works; and is the creator of The Xion Network, a Comic Book Networking/Social gathering group with branches in Philadelphia and Barbados. Through the Xion Network Shawn then curated numerous art exhibits and facilitated many workshops, ultimately leading him to host of the open mic/art exhibit/drawing group series The Xion Art/Cypher.
As an educator, he teaches his Comic Book workshops at various after-school institutions as well as privately, both nationally and internationally, and now through virtual classes.
