Music – Los Angeles

For over 15 years, Renee Shoy Isaiah Phillip has been raising the vibration of people across the globe through the universal language of music. He started playing the steel pan, the national instrument of Trinidad & Tobago with one of the leading steel pan bands on the twin island, Skiffle Bunch Steel Orchestra. Shoy realized that he had a natural ability and a passion for music early in his life. As others around him inevitably saw this musical aptitude within him as well, he quickly rose through the ranks of his band from being a section member to a section leader, touring in countries such as Barbados, Jamaica, and the United States of America. Under the guidance of the band’s leader Junia Regrello, Shoy performed for dignitaries and distinguished guests such as the Late Patrick Manning, Jamaica’s Tourism Ambassador, and The Ambassador of the United States of America. Upon migrating to the United States in 2009, he continued to represent Trinidad and Tobago and showcased his musical acumen as a solo pannist. Shoy has proven that he is truly gifted musically and can effortlessly play any genre of music on the steel pan, which is a rare ability. This afforded him the opportunity to perform for various events such as The Rose Bowl Float Festival 2024 (Rhythm Of The Caribbean - Wrigley Legacy Award) also to perform at venues such as The Roxy, Vibratos Jazz Grill, Disneyland California, Sergerstrom Center, The Peppermint Club, Catalina Jazz Club, Sabaan Theater, as well as organizations and celebrities in the Los Angelos area of California. Among those he has performed for includes, Berry Gordy, Red Foo, B Howard, Serena Williams, Chloe & Hailey Bailey, Sima Funk, Angela Robinson Witherspoon, Tina Knowles, Joe, Keyshia Cole, Aloe Blacc, DC Young Fly, Lawrence Hilton Jacob, Tory Lanez, Anderson .Paak, DJ Charisma, The US Air Force (Camp Beal), The US Marines (Camp Pendleton), and Yvette Noel-Schure. Shoy is very versatile and has also curated a career as a music producer, which afforded him the opportunity to collaborate with several well known music producers such as Good Job 1st, Omar Grand, and Oaktownsoul. In Shoy’s spare time, he performs at the Santa Monica Pier, Farmers Markets within the Los Angeles Municipal, and enjoys, exercising, playing chess, and studying Kung-fu. Shoy’s versatility on the steel pan is unmatched — musically he is highly skilled, innovative, vibrant and a powerful force to reckon with.
