Adrian Armstrong

Visual Art – Omaha

Recent graduate of the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, currently working and living in Nebraska. Adrian\'s work consists of multi-medium portraits, most consistently pointillism, depicting the identity of the African and Black American. Adrian is interested in portraying the ideologies of someone who identifies as a black or African American by reinventing the concept of portraiture in a surrealistic and often abstract way. He aims to understand and portray the taboos of race and create the perspective of a Black and African American living in America. In his work he often use his self representing an “every man.\" However, it is important to showcase normal, every day individuals to show the richness of the culture, the individuality and diversity of people within the culture, and to promote an otherwise oppressed and often undermined race as pertaining to American culture.
