Alana The Artist

Visual Art – Toronto

My name is Alana Tucker I was born March of 1993 in Scarborough Ontario Canada. I currently live just outside of the GTA (greater Toronto area). Growing up in a single parent household within a government housing community I had no opportunity to get lessons outside of public school to hone any creative skill. But I always had a knack for creative hobbies and outlets such as playing guitar, viola, writing poetry, original songs, and of course painting. I started pursuing art professionally into my adulthood during the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020. Growing up my main focus was to make sure I was paid enough at a job so I didn’t have the same struggles as I saw my mother have, not realizing I was pushing my mental, spiritual and personal needs to the side in this pursuit. A significant pivot in my life and artistic journey was the realization that I did nothing to fulfil myself on any personal level which left me at a very low point. My child (3 years old at the time) asked me to paint him a picture of spider-man. At that seemingly small request I found myself again. Painting and making my child incredibly happy with my art. I’ve been consistently painting & honing my craft ever since. I would describe my art style to be a contemporary use and combination of realism, surrealism and abstract methods. I’m mainly drawn to creating deep intimate connections which include: physical intimacy, spiritual intimacy, social intimacy, the deep intimate connection with self and nostalgic references. My preferred mediums are acrylic and oil on canvas with occasional use of moulding pastes. I am a self taught artist who most recently has been at the 2023 Toronto business summit showcasing my art and networking with other amazing businesses. Currently working on a series titled: Intimacy and plan to use this collection in first solo exhibit in 2024.
