AlleyKat Kreations
Visual Art – Edmonton
Cedar Callihoo (they/it), a.k.a AlleyKat, is a 20 year old multimedia artist of Cree/Métis ancestry who uses art to transform their struggles with C-PTSD, BPD, and intergenerational trauma into a wide variety of art.
AlleyKat began their visual art journey very young; they remember learning to hold a pencil, and never putting it down. They turned to art frequently, was both fun and therapeutic. This grew into the journey of art self-study that brings AlleyKat's visual art where it is today. As it develops it's style, AlleyKat explores themes of trauma, rebirth, identity, and psychedelia.
Their beadwork journey began in 2022 as a way to connect with it's culture. In 2024 it turned to beading to cope with major losses, including their spouse. Beading helped them slow down and nurture their spirit in this time of grief, each bead a reminder of our individual and collective significance to ourselves and each other.
AlleyKat's work reflects their journey; each brushstroke, bead, or drop of ink carries a piece of them with it, and each piece creates a part of themselves alongside it. "Art is the fibre that binds my soul together."
