Andrej Ivanov

Photography – Montréal

Hobby, passion and motivation combined into one when Andrej Ivanov discovered photography. With a degree in psychology, a diploma in photography, and a certificate in Photoshop, Andrej tries to combine his knowledge and experience to create something new. His education has offered him to gain insight into people, enabled him to express his creativity, and impelled him to explore various forms of photography (from photojournalism to fashion photography). A background in music also helped to fuel his passion for experimenting in art. In mid-2011, Andrej discovered that combining his passion for music and for photography was possible, when he was offered the opportunity to photograph his first concert. While educating himself in psychology and photography, he began to crystallize his photojournalistic artistry through a community-driven webzine, 33mag.com. It is through this webzine that he was able to find his calling while working on various assignments, writing articles, reviews and, most importantly photographing various happenings. In the summer of 2012, he also had the opportunity to photograph for the Just for Laughs festival, a now world-renowned comedy festival originating in Montreal. It is at this time that he also started working as an event photographer for a Montreal-based promotion company, Montreal Guestlist. In late 2012, he joined a Toronto-based webzine, The Scene Magazine, for whom he still contributes to as both a writer and a photographer. As of 2013, he became the editor of the Montreal division.
