Hello, and welcome to my brain. I'm _beangoose_ (or if you're the IRS my name is Alex Redd), and I’m a sophomore at AUArts, majoring in Print Media. My personal artwork seeks to showcase raw, unfiltered emotion, spilling thoughts onto the page with little preparation or planning. Throughout my life, I have used art as a way to process and understand my emotions and to make sense of everyday chaos. I’m not the best at words, so instead I’ll bury my head in a sketchbook and let my hand do the work. This tends to manifest in equally chaotic pieces that utilize repeating motifs, grotesque or exaggerated imagery, patterns and the occasional phrase. Think of each piece as a visual diary entry, each one being personal and indicative of my emotional state at the time. My mantra when creating art is not to go into it with the intent of it being representational, or to become a consumer good/”marketable”. That sort of thinking boxes me in and hinders my goals. I make art for myself primarily, as I’ve always done. If for some reason you enjoy what you see, then that’s really validating and I appreciate you. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
