New York Fashion Week is one of the most exciting events of the year. To some, the thought of being able to work backstage seems out of reach. Almost impossible if you don’t know the right people or have the right connections. With the ever growing makeup industry, it feels hard to leave your mark. For the past ten years, key makeup artists James Vincent and Danessa Myricks have given hundreds of opportunities to budding artists to show their skills and artistry on the runway. Many have travelled from all over the world for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Who are these key artists that give so much?
Director of Education and Artistry for The Makeup Show and The Powder Group, James Vincent has worked in every genre of makeup and beauty. From film and theatre, to television and celebrity work, editorial and runway work. He now focuses his career on working international fashion, editorial and artistry development.
Her once hobby turned into a career. Danessa Myricks has definitely made a name for herself in the beauty community. Danessa is an international educator, offering education through her books, hands-on sessions and step-by-step training DVDs.
With more than 20 years of Fashion Week experience, James and Danessa have led fashion shows in international style cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Milan and Berlin. This year, artists had the opportunity to participate in shows like Kittenish by Jesse James Decker, S by Serena, Studio 189 by Rosario Dawson, Mery Playa, Chick NYC x Ydamys Simo, Garo Sparo Atelier, threeASFOUR, Revival Swimwear and Suzanna Rae.
