Performing Art – Cleveland

My Performance Art is site-specific, multi-sensory, immersive and interactive wherein the lines between space, performer and spectator are constantly blurred and fluctuating. Often my work employs a theatrical technique known as Theatre of Cruelty, a type of theatre advocated by Antonin Artaud that aims to unleash unconscious responses in audiences [and its performers] that are normally inaccessible. I want you, The Audience, to find in the theatre not an area for escape from the world, but the realization of your worst nightmares and deepest fears. To do this, I try to provoke conditions that will force the release of primitive instincts hidden beneath the civilized social veneer masking all human behavior. This concept of cruelty is not sadistic. I want to stimulate what is honest, and true, and this cruelty requires a rigor and determination that is necessary if [performers] and audiences are to confront and experience the dark and terrifying responses that lay at the heart of each of us.
