Brad Robson

Visual Art – Sydney

Brad Robson began his artistic career as a musician and songwriter in Sydney’s inner west. After spending most of his twenties playing in bands and experimenting in graphic art, Robson was compelled to develop a greater understanding of the visual elements of his creative production. In 2008 he graduated with a Diploma of Graphic Arts and Advertising from the Commercial Arts Training College (CATC) in Sydney. He was invited to return to the institution as a teacher the following year. In 2011 Robson completed a residency in Illustration and Visual Storytelling at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Inspired by the city\'s rich culture of abstract art, Robson developed a unique style and his practice flourished, culminating in his first solo exhibition in Brooklyn, NY in 2013. Since then, his work has been lauded in exhibitions in Sydney and New York. He was part owner of Sydney’s artist run initiative, Kaleidoscope Gallery. Robson has been commissioned for several commercial and public works and can be seen in a number of local bars and cafes around Sydney’s inner west. His work has been commissioned for the offices of the SBS Studios in Artarmon and more recently by Optus Australia for a mural at Sydney’s Luna Park. In addition to developing his own practice, Robson now works as a curator for his recently established pop-up arts organisation, Laneway Projects.
