The Butterfly Gang was formed by Nik Dobrucki in 2014. Nik taking the role as lead writer and vocalist enlisted for the aid of his brother Adam Dobrucki to play drums. Then is when the Chrysalis was born. A bass player was needed for fullness, and local musician Matt Melamed was invited. Nik showed him the first song they had and instantly felt a connection. He joined the band shortly after. The band was well into the writing process and had a few debut shows lined up when Nik thought of recruiting another guitar player. Nik had a few people in mind, one of which was Kanan Morelock. Nik had known Kanan from highschool and they would often collaborate. When Nik first offered the idea to Kanan he was slightly hesitant, but after the first practice was blown away by the Power and Tightness. Hook, Line and Sinker.
