Visual Art – Nashville
My name is Ashley Hicks, I am a African American artist born and raised in Tennessee. I am graduating from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor's degree in Studio Art and Marketing. I learned to see the beautiful colors around me and I wish to share my gift in a unique way. The reason why I create is to give those who are not able to be heard a voice. Whether you relate to my work, admire it, or become inspired by it , my hope is that you are able take something valuable with you when you walk away. I also tend to focus on feminine empowerment through painted portraitures. I work in a variety of other mediums that allow me to express my creativity. I created a collection of work called the Blooming Black Lotus because no matter how difficult or grimful this world may seem there will always be those who rise above the mud to create the beauty found around them.
