Visual Art – Chicago

Cassandra August paints with acrylic using organic forms to represent everyday events; emphasizing line work and color where the memory stands most clear. With this process she's recreating the visceral moments of the memory allowing the emotion of the scene to become the focus and create abstraction out of reality. Everyone’s view of the world is unique and distorted, filtered through experience and emotion. She portrays her version of this skewed reality to better understand herself and open up to the world around her. She hopes to reach others with possible glimpses into their world through hers, regardless of differing views and beliefs. She believes that art is unifying across all people and her goal is to contribute to that belief.
