Visual Art – Ottawa

Born in Providence, RI, Ceprano has been living in Ottawa-Gatineau since 1973, becoming a Canadian citizen in 1991, and presently resides in Aylmer, Quebec. He has degrees in Physics, Fine Art, & Photography, with a scholarship in painting, and a Graduate Assistantship in Photography. The “Art of Rock Balance" project began in 1987, at Remic Rapids Park, on the shores of the Ottawa River. Each year from June to November, Remic Rapids becomes an acre full of Balanced Rock Sculptures, which grows as the river recedes throughout the summer season. The project attracts tourists from around the world, and provides a peaceful gathering place for the local community. In 2017, the project will be included in Canada's 150th Anniversary festivities, including free live performance artists in dance, music, and theatre. Ceprano established the non-for profit "Ottawa Rock Art" Inc. in 2009, and has hosted e international stone balance festivals, referred to BAWI or Balanced Art World International. BAWI was established in Italy in 2011, with festivals are held throughout the world. Ceprano also produces "permanent" residential and commercial rock sculptures, typically assisted by sub contractor, engineers, and landscape architects. He has also been a painter since the 1960's, and currently resides at his studio in Aylmer, Gatineau. The studio is open to the public, and by visits are by appointment.
