Fashion – Melbourne
Alexandra has studied a Diploma of Costume from Ultimo Tafe and has worked for eight years in Fashion boutiques as a cutter and grader which means she can bring the most useful and pertinent techniques from both of these areas into her neo-victorian creations. She had worked in Theaters as everything from Wardrobe supervisor to costume maker for a variety of Productions. Starting Clockwork Butterfly was a way of exploring her love of history and fashion in a new way. She has organised a fringe Festival event called “Clockwork Butterfly Steampunk Extravaganza” in 2010 and consulted for the new Circus Oz production “Steampowered”. Her designs have been showcased In Sydney as part of ‘Luamorph’ and shown in Circa Nocturna in Melbourne in 2011, 2013 and 2014. She has been included in articles on costume and steampunk in The Age, The Herald Sun, Beat, Fiend Magazine, Rolling Stone and on an Album cover. She has been interviewed for many articles and for a Radio National Program on the event Steamscape which she helped create in 2012 at Post Industrial Design. Her clothes have been worn by many performers and she specialized in tailor made designs to fit the needs of the individual.
