Craft – Portland

I come from a family of strong, artistic women. My mom taught me the basics of macrame when I was a kid. I would make small things like friendship bracelets and simple hemp necklaces for myself and friends. It wasn’t until the summer of 2017 that I developed a strong urge to create. I was recently unemployed, in a new city, with very few friends, and a whole lot of anxiety. It started with a plant hanger. And then another. And another. Most of the work I create can hold a plant! I found macrame to be very therapeutic. I like to experiment with dying my own rope, weaving, and painting. I draw inspiration from the landscape around me, the ocean, the mountains, the rivers, and our galaxy.
