Sewing and crafting costume creations is in the blood. My grandmother taught me to sew at a very young age and it’s a skill that has come in handy repeatedly throughout the years. I remember tagging along with my mom to the fabric store every fall to pick out the pattern for THE costume I had to wear that Halloween. And of course every year, mom made the costumes my brothers and I would wear every weekend as we participated in the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. Through the years I began to rely on my own prowess to create my costumes for Halloween and other theme events- it actually became a game to always “wow” the competition and have the absolute BEST costume.
Today dressing up is not just for special events anymore, it’s about having a fun, new experience on a Friday night. You know, just because. In fact, I have a philosophy: A truly great weekend requires one karaoke performance and a costume creation. Keep exploring and experiencing something new and live everyday FULL OUT!!
