I am a self-taught artist with a background in drawing, painting and mural making. I’m passionate about creating art that fills the gap in the lack of representation of South Asian women in art spaces. Before I do a painting, I shift through references images looking for women with facial expressions that stand out because they convey power, femininity or masculinity through their facial expression and body language. Most of the designs in the background were inspired by 13-16th-century historical carvings and Paintings from Sri Lanka.
